Nano-scale visualization: lift medical and electronic revolution

IBM recently announced at the nanometer scale visualization technology made a breakthrough on this breakthrough will lead to more powerful drugs and integrated circuits.

IBM Almaden Research Center's researchers discovered a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology to observation of nano-objects.

The Center for the study of nano-Dan Rugar charge that this discovery with landmark significance, it can be adequately demonstrated by MRI technology and scanning microscopy.

Rugar believes that, while build a three dimensional way to watch to a single atom of microscope this ultimate goal to be achieved over many years, but the MRI technology extended to nanometer-level continued to be a great achievement.

Rugar said: "MRI is a great technology, but not a lethal limit: sensitivity is not high."

IBM researchers successfully used magnetic resonance force microscope (MRFM) observed a small-to-90-nanometer-dimensional images of objects. 1 nanometer is one billionth of a meter.

Rugar said, as the future of atomic-scale 3D imaging technology, scientists will be better able to identify protein structure and function, improved drug and material development.

IBM researchers in imaging technology is great.

In 1986, since the invention of the scanning tunneling microscopy, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory of Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer Nobel Physics Prize. The Nature Nanotechnology magazine will be published on this research project article the 90 nanometer resolution magnetic resonance imaging technology ".
