STMicrolectronics announces high-performance ultrasonic pulse controller

STMicrolectronics launches highly integrated, low-noise ultrasonic pulse controller.

New product introduction STHV748 STMicrolectronics high-pressure BCD mixed signal technology provides four independent output channels, each channel can generate control accurate high-voltage pulse signal to drive the piezoelectric crystals or other transducer. This device allows developers to design the next generation of high performance, small size of the ultrasound imaging system.

Ultrasonic scanner works similar with radar.

When subjected to an electric signal stimulus, piezoelectric transducer will launch ultrasonic pulse train, conversely, the subject of ultrasonic echo (for example, from body tissue to return of ultrasonic) role, piezoelectric transducer will produce a low-voltage electrical signals. STHV748 function is to provide timing precise high-voltage pulse signals, piezoelectric ultrasonic pulse train generation, and switch to receive mode detection signal.

STMicrolectronics global medical marketing manager Pat Furlan said: "through the STMicrolectronics SOI-BCD6 manufacturing process, we are in the same single chip integration of low-voltage CMOS logic interface circuits, precision analog circuit and sound power levels, to provide for the industrial market STHV748 integrated pulse control solutions than ever before.

Through the integrated transceiver switch, STHV748 can maximize the reduction of fixed and portable ultrasonic scanner applications required external components to allow device further miniaturization and cost reduction. "

STHV748 in automatic bias in the framework of the integrated CMOS Digital control logic interface circuits, analog voltage converters, power MOSFET gate drive and N-channel and P-Channel MOSFET output stage.

STHV748 main features include:

± Two-channel independent 90V HV power supply in pulse mode and continuous wave (CW) mode ± 2A from Jia and poured into current continuous acoustic mode exclusive pulse generator, realizing low power and low pulsation (less than 20ps) maximum 20MHz frequency fully integrated ground-clamp circuit at noise diode circuit to eliminate memory effect, increase the precision of the thermal protection of bunched cables and standby mode four independent transceiver switch (TR_sw): ultra low-noise coefficient, low on-State resistance, 300MHz bandwidth supports five level pulse output higher than second-harmonic suppression 42dB

STHV748 9.0 9.0 x x 1.0mm QFN64 lead-free package, combines excellent thermal characteristics.
